Ecotech Solar is Whatcom County’s original solar contractor, and remains the area’s leading locally-owned and operated solar company. With a focus on care, quality, and ensuring that every interaction leaves a positive impact, Ecotech partners with clients to design and install a solution that meets their needs.
The ask
With over 20 years of experience and an outgrown brand and website, Ecotech needed a new look to propel them into the next phase of their business. As a brand with a high level of recognition, Ecotech was wary of changing too much, but they knew they needed to refresh their brand. Additionally, they wanted a site that would provide social proof of expertise not only in Whatcom County but also the surrounding area. We needed to make sure the new site reached the right audience by incorporating both Content and SEO strategies.
The Approach
As with all my projects, we started with a strategy. Five key stakeholders and department leads from the company gathered to discuss the themes, values and ethos of Ecotech and hone in on what makes them unique. In addition to helping inform design choices throughout the project, this session helped the Ecotech team develop thoughtful messaging and copy for the website.
We then built on that foundation with a content and SEO strategy. Identifying content gaps, developing key meta tags, benchmarking SEO audits, and gathering competitor insights. Through a comprehensive guide, we helped the team develop a content and messaging strategy that they used for many months and years to come.
In rebranding the company, I refined the color palette, balanced the typography, and updated the logo mark so that it would feel fresh and new without losing any of its brand recognition. I created tradeshow assets, branded merchandise, and signage to expand the brand’s usage.
As part of the website’s design, content strategy and brand strategy were of utmost importance. Throughout the development process, care for the community, quality processes, expertise, experience, and longevity were always at the forefront of our minds. Users can navigate the new site to find residential, commercial, and community projects through a robust menu. Additionally, a complete knowledgebase includes how-to’s and FAQs to answer prospects’ questions, and geolocation-specific landing pages act as a resource hub for customers looking for solar near them.
The Result
The result is something I’m very proud of. Their audience has grown, revenue has increased, and community support has strengthened. As a result of the new branding, the company has a fresh, exciting feel, and the new website has eased the work of sales and support staff, acting as a first contact point and lowering the barrier to entry for many prospects. The design modernizes visuals while preserving recognizable elements, boosting trust and accessibility. We integrated customer testimonials, project galleries, and regional case studies to demonstrate expertise across Whatcom and nearby counties, alongside clear CTAs and fast-loading pages that cater to both homeowners and commercial clients.
